Opening Post

I woke up one morning with a random thought. I never met my Grandfather on my father's side as he passed away when my father was 13. I had 18 years with his mother, my Grandmother Jean, of which there are about 13 years of memories. She passed around my 18th birthday.

But my Mother's parents, Grandma and Grandpa Jorgensen have been around my entire life. This year, 2011, I will turn 37. I am their sixth grandchild and to the best of my knowledge there are 13 behind me. That makes a total of 19 grandchildren....i think. Ever since I can remember, my grandfather has been tinkering in his garage on some musical instrument or other ambitious project no man in his 90's should attempt to construct. And my grandmother has been supporting the entire clan. To this day, my grandmother stands as the foundation of all her posterity.

I have always had a deep level of respect for those young adults who lived through the depression, WWII and survived the 60's with their morals in tact. It will be a sad day when that generation, the most remarkable generation, passes from this earth and leaves this planet with all the selfish generations that have followed.

This blog is a an effort to let the world know how lucky I feel to have had Grandparents such as Alice and Glade Jorgensen. I have truly taken for granted our relationship and how unique and remarkable a people they both are. As their whits and hands get a little slower, I feel the need to remind the world and leave  some trace of a reminder (as long as google stays viable) of the great examples they have been on so many and the unpretentious impact they have made on so many lives.

I invite anyone (especially the 4 daughters) who visit this page to leave posts and help build this online memoir.
